A group of adult friends in Philadelphia are investigated when a beloved member of their friend group, Montgomery Donaldsons, is murdered in an art heist gone bad. Detective Maxwell Ford and Detective Kelly Cooper are assigned to the case and become targets after secrets of the friend group are uncovered, proving that this heist might not be what it seems. As the bodies stack up people closest to Montgomery, colleagues, and friends, start questioning each other, and seeds of enmity begin to sprout. Spree is a murder mystery following complicated characters weaved around exhilarating action sequences, but simultaneously a coming-of-age satire for the crime subgenre.
